The Japanese role-playing game Persona 5 sold over 2 million copies in a year. This is the best result among all the games in the Persona series, whose total sales amount to 8.9 million copies.
“It’s been an incredible year for Altus. Once the Persona series was considered a representative of a niche genre, but Persona 5 has become one of the main games of this year, and interest in Japanese role-playing games is growing. In the future, we will delight fans with new great titles,” said Naota Hiraoka, head of Altus USA.
The international release of Persona 5 took place in April of this year.
Persona 5 claims 4 nominations for the Games Awards 2017: game of the Year, best artistic performance, best music and best role-playing game.
