Russian games perform well in sales. Yesterday they got three lines at once in the world’s top 10 Steam bestsellers, including the first one. It’s about Potion Craft and World War Z: Aftermath.
The best-selling game in the world has become (and continues to be) Potion Craft, developed by the St. Petersburg studio niceplay games.
Potion Craft was released yesterday in early access. This is an alchemist simulator in which the player has to brew and sell potions. The project was well received by users, collecting 97% positive reviews on Steam. Its peak online in two hours exceeded 4 thousand people and continues to grow to this day. At the time of writing, 4,869 people were playing in Potion Craft at the same time.
Two more places in the top 10 sales leaders – the third and sixth — were taken by World War Z: Aftermath. The release of this cooperative zombie shooter also took place yesterday. Saber Interactive, partly based in Russia, was responsible for its development. Although the ratings of the title turned out to be mixed, its peak online is only slightly lower than Potion Craft — 4,160 simultaneous players.
Today, World War Z: Aftermath has partially lost its positions, dropping to fourth and twelfth places in the world chart. In the Russian segment, it is still in the top 10, occupying the fourth and seventh lines.
Note that this is not the first time that games developed in Russia hit the Steam charts. For example, in September, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous was held in the weekly top of the best-selling games for two weeks in a row.
