Nintendo is developing a game from The Legend of Zelda series for mobile platforms, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, citing sources close to the company.

According to the WSJ informants, The Legend of Zelda for tablets and smartphones will be released after the release of the mobile version of the social game Animal Crossing, which is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2017.

Nintendo declined to comment on these assumptions.

However, earlier the president of Nintendo Tatsumi Kimishima (Tatsumi Kimishima) reported that the company intends to expand the line of mobile games to increase revenue, attract casual gamers and encourage them to buy Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo has been mastering mobile platforms since last year, together with DeNA, releasing titles such as Fire Emblem Heroes and Super Mario Run on iOS and Android.
