Nexon and Square Enix are preparing to relaunch the cult MMO Final Fantasy XI on mobile platforms.
It became known about the companies’ plans to take up the port a year ago. It was not a surprise, given the regular release of old parts of Final Fantasy on iOS and Android.
But at the Nexon Developers Conference 2016, currently taking place in South Korea, there was an interesting detail about the upcoming game.
The new version of Final Fantasy XI is being developed from scratch based on the graphics solution of Epic Games.
The release of the game is scheduled for this year. The game will be released not only in Japan, but also in the USA and Europe.
Recall that Final Fantasy XI, which was released in 2002 on PlayStation 2 and PC, is the first MMORPG in the eponymous series. The game is still operated on PC, and its servers for PS2 and Xbox 360 were closed only this year.
