The New World open beta test from Amazon Games started yesterday. More than 140 thousand people decided to participate in it at the same time. Such excitement allowed the project to enter the top 5 most popular games on Steam.
According to the PCGamesN portal with reference to SteamDB service data, the peak online New World was 141 668 people. At the time of writing the news, the maximum number of simultaneous players is around 81 thousand people.
So far, New World has not broken the online record, which it managed to set during the closed beta test – 200,856 people. Nevertheless, yesterday the title turned out to be more popular than most games, second only to CS:GO, Dota 2, PUBG and Apex Legends.
Also yesterday, New World performed well on Twitch. At its peak, the project was watched by 154 thousand viewers. Despite the fact that almost no one has been watching the game for the last month — the average online New World on the platform was about two thousand people. But it is worth noting that this is still several times less than during the beta test. Then on the first day it attracted over 700 thousand viewers.
New World is a fantasy MMORPG for PC, which takes place on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. It has both PvP and PvE modes. The title is scheduled for release on September 28.
