French publisher Gameloft spoke about the achievement of the title Minion Rush. The number of its downloads has exceeded a billion. It took the project a little less than eight years.
Minion Rush is a mobile runner about minions from the Despicable Me cartoon series. It was released in June 2013. In the first three months, the title reached the mark of 100 million downloads.
Gameloft announced that Minion Rush was approaching a billion installations back in April 2020. But then the company explained that the calculations were erroneous. The publisher then did not specify how many downloads Minion Rush had, but added that it would be possible to reach a billion in the “coming months”.
It was possible to overcome the desired milestone only a year later.
As Gameloft pointed out, no other mobile game made on the basis of a movie franchise can boast of such a result yet.
“It’s a great honor for us to be such an important part of the history of minions, and also to communicate and interact with gamers and fans from all over the world. Very rarely do games reach such a milestone, so Gameloft is flattered that they were able to achieve this,” commented Stas Sadkeyev, game manager.
Recall that a month ago Gameloft announced a billion downloads of the Asphalt racing series. The first game of the franchise was released in the fall of 2004, and there are 16 titles in the line.
