The idea and gameplay of Fortnite: Battle Royale clearly echo the trendsetter of the “royal battle” genre of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds studio Bluehole Studio.

After the announcement of Fortnite: Battle Royale on September 11, Bluehole representatives announced that Epic Games was releasing a clone of their game and promoting it due to the popularity of PUBG, although the companies had previously worked closely together. Recently, Bluehole licensed the Unreal Engine 4 engine for PUBG development.
