The authors of Candy Crush Saga are preparing another midcore game. This time about the battles in the spirit of Panzer General.
Valiant HeroesAccording to DataMagic, on July 17, King launched a new product in the Malaysian Google Play.
It’s called Valiant Heroes.
The core gameplay of the game resembles classic wargames in a casual interpretation. There is a hexagonal field. The player’s heroes and enemy units are displayed on it. The battle takes place in a step-by-step mode. First, one player moves his pieces, then his opponent (AI). The survivor wins.
Meta — mix of traditional mechanics for mobile battlers. During the battles, the player gets loot and resources, and the heroes get experience. Loot is distributed by the user among the heroes. However, loot is hung on the heroes for money (if you want to hang a ruby, pay). Pumping their abilities is also carried out for soft currency. However, pumping is limited to the current level of the hero.
As for the heroes themselves, they can either be bought for money, or received from the local gacha. Tokens for the latter also fall out as a result of battles. The heroes also have the usual “stardom”. The more copies of one hero collected, the more stars he has. The latter increase the life, damage and protection of units.
Valiant Heroes
Now the project looks interesting, but not nearly as interesting as last year’s Legend of Solgard.
Recall that in August 2018, King released the first midcore game for itself, whose gameplay was built on the combat mechanics of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.
The project received warm reviews in the press and garnered high ratings in the App Store and Google Play. However, the project has not achieved comparable success with casual King games. For the year, its downloads amounted to 2.6 million, and revenue — $ 3 million. For comparison, Bubble Witch 3 Saga generates such indicators in a month.
Most likely, Valiant Heroes is waiting for a similar situation. Another thing is that King itself is now interested in diversifying the portfolio, where there are still too many of the same type of titles, and the main revenue still falls on Candy Crush Saga.
