Last night, Fortnite hosted a large—scale event with Galactus, a character from the Marvel universe. More than 15.3 million players gathered at the same time for the battle with the “Devourer of Worlds”. This is a new record online for battle royale.
The last time Fortnite peaked online was in April 2020. Then Epic Games organized a virtual concert of rapper Travis Scott in the game, to which about 12.3 million people “came”.
The new event attracted an audience beyond the battle royale. 3.4 million YouTube and Twitch viewers decided to watch how millions of players under the leadership of Iron Man are fighting with Galactus.
The event lasted about ten minutes. During this time, a crossover show unfolded in front of gamers, in which Marvel characters interacted with the Fortnite game world. In addition to Tony Stark and Galactus, Thor and Wolverine also appeared in the event.
This is not the end of Fortnite crossovers. Judging by the official Twitter of the game, next season there will be trips with hunters from different worlds. Among other things, players will be able to meet the Mandalorian and baby Yoda from the Star Wars universe.
