Dmitry Smith has assumed the post of President of the Russian Computer Sports Federation (FKSR). The change of leadership in the organization was announced by the first Vice-president of the FKSR Alexander Gorbachenko on his Facebook page.
Gorbachenko handed over presidential powers to Smith at the extraordinary congress of the FKSR on March 11. Dmitry Smith will have to form a new team and implement a new concept of the FCSR.
“The Federation, like esports itself, continues to develop rapidly, we are implementing more and more large-scale projects and setting new ambitious goals for ourselves. In 2016 alone, 5,687 people took part in the Russian Esports Cup, 3,264 players took part in the All–Russian Esports Student League, this is the most massive computer sports competition in Russia. In 2017, the number of participants and the audience of tournaments will be even more impressive. The Federation’s future plans are to organize and hold the Russian Championship, develop sports infrastructure and – globally – further popularize esports in the country,” Dmitry Smith said.
Gorbachenko himself will be engaged in the development of computer sports in Moscow in his new position. This includes the development of the system of preparation and formation of the Moscow national team for the successful representation of the region at high-level competitions, and other tasks.
Among the stated tasks of the Moscow division of the FCSR are holding the Moscow Cup, the Moscow Championship, the Moscow stages of All-Russian competitions of various levels, and much more.
