Cmune received $1.4 million from the publisher and developer of Starbreeze. With this money, the studio will release a mobile version of the Payday shooter.
Payday is a series of FPS games. It is published on PC and consoles, and its audience is about 9 million, according to the Venturebeat resource. The Swedish company Starbreeze took part in the development of Payday 2. As a result of the transaction, Starbreeze will become the owner of 6.3% of Cmune shares. The rights to the IP will remain with the Swedish company.
The publisher of the project will be 505 Games. She, in collaboration with Starbreeze, distributes the computer version of the game.
Note that Cmune was probably chosen as a developer for its experience in creating shooters. The studio has a browser-based Uberstrike project with 25 million players, and the Deadheads game is being prepared for release on mobile devices.
