The Finnish company Rovio, not long before the release of its film “Angry Birds in the cinema”, released a new game with original mechanics in the universe of the same name.

The new product is called Angry Birds Action!. This is the first project in which the familiar birds, which have hardly changed their appearance since 2009, when the original game was released, have changed significantly in appearance. In the project, they look like in the future picture, whose premiere is scheduled for May 12.

The mechanics of the game is a mix of billiards and pinball, mixed with the monetization of Angry Birds 2, Candy Crush, Best Fiends and other projects.

The gameplay looks something like this: there is a map with levels. Each level consists of three stages – small locations. The task on each is to knock out a platform from under the eggs located on the location.

Platforms are knocked out by touching the bird. A bird is, in fact, a ball. The ball is launched in any direction that the player points. Unlike the classic Angry Birds, the player cannot influence the force of the blow, only the direction.

As soon as the bird loses its inertia, it stops. If the player does not break all the platforms on the first attempt, he launches the bird from the place where it stopped.

The mechanics are simple and fascinating. But there are not the most obvious solutions in logic and strapping.

As you remember, each level is divided into three stages. In each stage, the player has three attempts (hello, Angry Birds 2). If all attempts are spent, the player loses a life (their number varies). Is it logical? Yes, but the fact that in one game the number of attempts and the number of lives are not equal is confusing.

There is a more controversial solution. Participation in each level writes off one energy, which is not replenished in case of victory. This is a familiar move for hardcore games, but not for casual ones.

The situation is aggravated by the fact that there are only three energies. In the same hardcore titles, at first, there is always an excess of energy to “hook up” the player. But even after the first stages, the energy in such games is usually enough for a half-hour / hour session (or there are additional energies for different modes).

Here three energies are spent in 5-10 minutes of the game. Then, at first, it is replenished for free, but it is clear that later they will be asked to watch ads, fumble something on social networks or pay.

Why there was such a “gesture”, it is not at all clear.

Even in the minuses of the game, which counts on a large number of downloads, you can safely enter excessive manufacturability. Yes, the game is very beautiful, but at the same time demanding of hardware.

One of the familiar solutions is the ability to use bonuses that simplify the passage of locations (Candy Crush) and boxes with keys at the end of each level (Best Fiends).

By the way: Rovio has printed 1 billion (!) “bird codes” – analogues of QR codes, which will be distributed by about 20 brands like H&M, McDonald’s and Lego. When scanning them through the game, the user will receive various bonuses. Plus, when scanning the titles of the cartoon (!), the player will get access to an exclusive video.

Not the most common solutions, which, of course, only really large companies can afford.
