YoYo Games has introduced GameMaker Studio 2 Creator Edition – access to the GameMaker Studio 2 game engine and resource store for $39 per year.
The offer is aimed at novice developers and has a relatively affordable price for the full functionality of the engine. The only limitation is related to the number of platforms — you can create games in Creator Edition only under Windows and Mac.
Prior to the Creator Edition, the YoYo Games product existed either in a free trial version with reduced features, or in the form of a permanent license at a price from $99 to $1,500, depending on the supported platforms.
According to the CEO of YoYo Games, James Cox, the capabilities of GameMaker Studio 2 Creator Edition are enough to create a full-fledged title and then publish it on Steam and other playgrounds.
In addition, GameMaker Studio 2 Creator Edition users will receive a 30% discount on upgrading the editor to the Desktop version, the initial price of which is $ 99.
