Studios rarely share their assets with other developers. The exception was the Yacht Club Games team, which posted an archive with art content on the Shovel Knight game to the public.
The developers shared the good news on the company’s Kickstarter blog about their new game Mina the Hollower.
“1 GB does not correspond much to the conditions of modern video games, but we are talking about pixel art, and they are measured in kilobytes,” comments a representative of the studio. – “So there’s a lot of material, and it’s all YOURS!”
Yacht Club Games came up with this idea in 2013, when another indie developer used sprites from Shovel Knights as references to his own game. His initiative inspired the studio to collect in one large archive all assets, including animation, backgrounds, menu design, etc. Everything is available for free.
It is important to note that all digital content is given for use under the CC 4.0 Attribution-NonCommercial license. That is, it can be disposed of only with the indication of authorship and exclusively for non-commercial purposes.

The files are available in the following formats .
flc and .pmp. The developers advise to open them using the program Pro Motion NG.
Yacht Club Games hopes that these materials will help in the creation of other games. You can download the archive here (you will need a VPN for this).
