Epic Games has published a new version of its engine. There are many changes. Some of them also touched on mobile development.
I get the impression that the competition between Unity and Unreal is moving into a phase of outright competition. Exactly a week has passed since the appearance of Unity 4.6, the main feature of which, we recall, was the appearance of a new system for creating and integrating UI, and Unreal Engine 4.6 appears.
The novelty includes 88 new features, the central one is, you will laugh, an experimental UI. The user interface widget can now be rendered directly within a three-dimensional scene. It is clear that before no one forbade you to do it yourself, but now there is a ready-made solution.
Also, the engine has learned to automatically record replays when there is a network connection.
Mobile developers, in turn, will be interested in another new “feature”: there is an opportunity to see how the game scene will look on a mobile device directly from the game editor.
The full list and detailed description of the engine’s functionality can be found here.
