Epic Games has released an extensive update to the fourth version of the Unreal Engine. Some of the important innovations of the engine relate to mobile.
Unreal Engine 4.9 has 129 improvements. And a lot of them are of a significant nature. For example, the developers have added a wizard for creating plugins, new editing tools, a full-screen particle collision system (full scene partial collision). But we will focus on those points that relate to mobile projects.
Firstly, there is support for dynamic character shadows (dynamic modulated character shadows) from directional light sources. Previously, this was not the case in mobile projects on UE.
Secondly, there is support for dynamic light sources. However, UE cannot demonstrate dynamic shadows from such sources yet.
Thirdly, the mobile render now supports decals.
