Playtonic studio announced a delay in the release of the platformer Yooka-Laylee on the Nintendo Switch console. The developers explained this by the problems of the Unity engine.

Playtonic assured that they almost coped with the task and asked fans to wait a little longer. As proof, the studio presented a small video with a game running on Switch.

“We ran into technical difficulties and were waiting for Unity 5.6 to be released to fix them. When Unity 5.6 came out, there were new problems in it that we need to solve before sending our game to Nintendo and naming the final release date. Thank you for your patience!” the message reads.

Playtonic promises to publish Yooka-Laylee on the Nintendo Switch by the end of this year.

Initially, Playtonic was going to publish Yooka-Laylee on the Nintendo Wii U, but later switched to Switch.

It is known that similar problems with porting to the Nintendo console will be experienced by the developers of the role-playing game Battle Chasers: Nightwar studio Airship Syndicate.
