Unity authors have officially released a new version of their engine. There were a lot of innovations this time.

Состоялся релиз Unity 5

Of the most significant , I would like to note:

  • embedding support for working with multiple scenes at once in the editor. Now Unity allows you to divide the level into small scenes/work on several at once;
  • introduction of six new tools for working with physics in the framework of two-dimensional projects (up to the generation of primitive physical objects based on existing textures);
  • the render in Unity 5.3 runs on OpenGL 4.x, not on the ancient OpenGL 2.1;
  • tvOS becomes the target platform within the framework of the new version of the engine (although support for the platform is still in beta);
  • WebGL is also becoming a target platform, we wrote about this in detail yesterday;
  • Unity 5.3 has a new tool that makes it as easy as possible to include micropayments in games. It is called appropriately – UnityIAP.

Plus, for those who can’t wait to try their hand at developing games for VR, Unity has launched the VR Sample project. Its essence boils down to demonstrating how you can work with virtual reality. The demonstration boils down to the presentation of four simple example games for working with VR. And, yes, Unity has also published a number of theoretical materials on working with VR.

You can read more about the described chips here. The full list of innovations is here.
