The official release of the Goo Engine, developed by the Swedish Goo Technologies team, took place. The main feature of the engine is the high performance of three-dimensional WebGL applications made on it.

The Goo Engine is written in “pure” JavaScript. According to the developers, this allowed it to be made as close to the web as possible. The same applies to scripts for it. And it is assumed that those who are familiar with JavaScript will have no problems learning how to work with it as quickly as possible.

Goo Engine has its own editor that allows you to import assets by simply dragging and dropping from the desktop, create primitives and edit object materials, arrange lighting, animate scenes, write scripts, edit HTML and much more directly in the cloud in the browser window.

Goo Engine is an open source solution. The basic version, which includes access to the source code, but excludes the ability to create closed scenes, is distributed free of charge.

A curious fact is that one of the key investors of Goo Technologies is Kai Hed, who owns a 70% stake in Rovio.

To evaluate the capabilities of the engine, we offer the game Angry Birds Go! Create. It is simple, but personally we were pleasantly surprised by the fast loading and the absence of lags. However, what to expect from the engine if you load the scene with more complex content is unclear.
