Nekki has announced the launch of open beta testing of Cascadeur. This is a software for creating realistic character animations. The OBT version of Cascadeur can be used for free for the development of commercial projects. Special permission from Nekki is not required for this.

This was announced yesterday by the developer company on its YouTube channel. There also appeared a five-minute video detailing the features and capabilities of the toolkit.

The closed beta testing of Cascadeur took place for more than a year. It officially started in the middle of March last year. During this time, more than 18 thousand people got acquainted with the instrument.

It is not reported how long the OBT is planned to be carried out. In the comments below the news of our colleagues with DTF, Nekki Business Development DirectorNikita Korzhavin said that beta will be free to use for life.

However, he immediately noted that at the same time, the company cannot guarantee its eternal working capacity: “Nevertheless, a full-fledged version of Cascadeur will be released in the future, and we will not be engaged in supporting MBT.” But now the company is considering the possibility of “a free upgrade from the OBT version to the full version for indie teams.”

Initially, Cascadeur was exclusively an internal solution created for its own projects. At the same time, the company was thinking about its public release six years ago, when their game Shadow Fight 2 was at the peak of popularity.

We plan to make it publicly available for free, we will try to create a community of animators around it, see what happens,” he said in 2014 in an interview with App2Top.ru Technical Director of NekkiEvgeny Dyabin.
