Unity is preparing for the release of Gaming Services. The new set of tools is focused on creating and supporting cross-platform multiplayer games created on the engine.
Unity Gaming Services was announced in October 2021. Then users got the opportunity to try out some of the tools as part of an open beta test.
According to VentureBeat, more than 54 thousand developers have tested them in 6 thousand projects. Based on the feedback received, the developers improved the final version.
After the release of Unity Gaming Services, developers will be able to:
- configure cloud saves and support cross-device accounts;
- monitor game performance and player activity in real time;
- manage the in-game economy and monetization;
- use P2P connections in multiplayer games;
- simulate an online space for players, thanks to lobby creation tools, chat, Netcode network libraries.
