Epic Games has announced a revision in the asset store for the Unreal Engine. The owners of the site want to make sure that the authors of the content do not violate intellectual property rights.

Epic was informed about the upcoming inspection shortly after the information about the removal of models of real weapons protected by manufacturers’ trademarks from the store. As well as other assets that infringe on other people’s copyrights.

“Epic has always required UE Marketplace sellers to have full rights to the assets they created. Now our team manually checks all the contents of the store to ensure that the submitted assets comply with the established rules. Content may be removed from the Marketplace due to copyright issues, poor quality, or unstable operation,” Unreal Egine community manager Amanda Bott said in a post on the project’s official forum.

The audit is expected to take several months. Representatives of the Unreal Engine store will contact the authors of the problematic content by email.

After that, sellers will have 30 days to confirm their rights or make changes to the disputed assets. If this is not done, their resources will be removed from the UE Marketplace.
