Crytek has posted the source code of its high-performance three-dimensional engine on GitHub web hosting.
Previously, developers received the source code only when downloading each public release of the engine in a zip archive attached to the build.
With the “arrival” of the engine on GitHub, developers will be able to find out the difference between releases faster, and it will also be easier for them to receive news about new versions of CryEngine,” said David Kaye, the lead system programmer of the deployment team.
The sources can be found here, the manual for them is here.
Recall that starting with the release of the fifth version, CryEngine is distributed free of charge according to the “pay as much as you want (or don’t pay at all)” model. Without having to pay royalties and without any financial or technical restrictions.
