The company will offer users of its own engine four subscription options.

These are Unity Personal, Unity Plus, Unity Pro and Unity Enterprise.

Unity Personal is a subscription option for small studios and indie developers. Provides full access to Unity functionality. It will cost free for those studios whose income is less than $ 100 thousand a year (and it doesn’t matter if it’s about investments or revenue from games).

Unity Plus will cost $35 per month if you buy an annual subscription, and $49 if you pay monthly. This includes access to special assets from the Unity store, multiplayer support and deeper analytics (which was previously available only to Unity Pro users). Two new packs will be added to the list of special assets “every few months”. This also includes a month of free access to the Unity program for developer training. The income limit is the same as in the case of Unity Personal.

Unity Pro will cost $125 per month if you purchase a full subscription. This will include support for development on all platforms and full access to all services and functionality of the engine.

In addition, there is a plan that Downey did not mention during the presentation, but which was announced on the Unity blog. This is Unity Enterprise – an option for large companies. According to this plan, subscribers will receive enterprise support and access to the source code of the engine. The cost of this plan is available upon request.

On all subscription plans, developers will have access to Unity Cloud Build Pro.

Recall that while the company provides access to two subscription options: Unity Pro and Unity Personal. Unity Pro costs from $75 per month. Unity Personal is free, but with limited functionality.

In addition, Downey announced that developers will have the opportunity to use the Pay to Own option. This means that when the subscription period ends, users who have bought a subscription (for a fee) will be able to keep the version of Unity they have subscribed to.

The innovations will come into force on June 15.
