In one day on GetApp! There were 10 speakers who presented various aspects of development: from code to management and promotion. Each speaker had only 20 minutes and 15 slides to reveal their topic, and the audience had 10 minutes to answer questions. In addition to the theoretical material, there was also a practice from the company Playtestix, which held an open playtest with the participants of the event.

Conference “GetApp! Cooking GameDev in Kiev” was the third such event for the iLogos team.

1.

The first report from Anastasia Denisyuk and Pavel Solod from InsightsForce was dedicated to “frauds” and “cheaters”. These are players with a “God complex” who actually take away the power over the project from the developers. To save it and manage your own game, you need to remember a simple rule: Listen. Understand. Act.

2.

From people destroying games, the attention of the participants switched to those who help to release new projects — investors. Nikita Polatayko and Sayenko Kharenko told how to avoid typical mistakes in working with them. For example, you should not download the contract from the Internet and make a technical translation from English: you can get a lot of unpleasant surprises.

3.

From signing the documents, the participants moved on to other paperwork in Gamedev — questionnaires of respondents at the playtest. This was stated by Alexander Dzyuba, CEO of Playtestix. He outlined the theory of the issue and prepared an interactive for the conference participants. At coffee breaks, it was possible to watch the work of Playtestix specialists live and participate in each stage of the open playtest.

4.

The main technical report of Get App! made by CTO iLogos Evgeny Ovcharenko. He talked about optimizing on Unity and told the participants how to quickly render huge amounts of 2D. The main feature of the report: a real example, which can be viewed here: Zhenya made 1000 characters run on the iPod Touch 4 at 60 frames per second.

5.

Alexander Shtachenko, producer of iLogos, spoke about game design. His theme is the asymmetric balance in games. The speaker suggested how to make money on the shortage of needs and production.

6.

Margarita Ostapchuk, Microsoft, urged the participants to explore new horizons and make games on Windows 10. The main argument is that game developers are waiting for an audience of a billion gamers.

7.

On the Get App! it was also possible to highlight an indie block of reports. Sergey Gilyuk, WyseGames, gave advice to those brave souls who decided to release their game on Steam. The main rule is to make a quality product and love what you do.

8.

Bogdan Sereda, Twisted Pilot, shared his experience of communicating with foreign gamers. He suggested how to attract their attention and get thousands of letstplays for his game.

9.

Andrey Tikhonchuk, GestaltGamep, told about Indie 48 — the first Ukrainian Game Jam. The speaker showed what projects 15 teams have implemented in the framework of a difficult topic: “Sleep, sports, crocodile”. He also shared a video with Indiw 48.
