Projects in the farm and citybuilder genre are now difficult to achieve significant commercial success. Their audience is gradually being taken away by multi—genre projects,” said Alexey Vstavsky from App Annie at White Nights in Prague.

Games about the construction of farms and cities on the mobile market have traditionally been considered one of the most popular and successful in terms of revenue, if we talk about projects designed for a casual audience.

However, nowadays representatives of this genre, made according to classical patterns, can no longer lead the cash tops. The reason is competition with multi—genre projects.

“The female audience of traditional farms goes to other casual genres, where there is a combination of different mechanics,” says Alexey.

As an example, he cites Gardenscapes and Homescapes from Playrix. However, you can also recall the latest innovations from King and Wooga.

“Hay Day and Township are losing ground, and the novelties of this genre are not able to achieve even their current results,” Alexey continues.

The audience is tired of the usual mechanics. Developers today have the following choice: either combine farms with other mechanics, or take on global innovations within the genre.
