The Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation has agreed with the Parliament additional measures to support the IT sector during the coronavirus. If they are approved by the government, IT companies will have the right to temporarily reduce employee salaries by no more than 20%.
The department announced this on its official website yesterday, April 14. The reduction of salaries for IT specialists was included in the package of orders on priority support measures. It also implies that the management, in agreement with the employee, will be able to halve his salary and send him on forced leave.
Among other measures being prepared are a delay in the payment of personal income tax until the end of the year, the zeroing of insurance premiums from the payroll for IT personnel, a reduction in VAT for those companies whose activities are most in demand during the pandemic. The measures were proposed by the associations “Domestic Software”, “RUSSOFT”, APKIT and the largest players in the IT market.
