American gaming giant Activision Blizzard reported for the second quarter. It turned out that in April — June, King brought the most money to the company. The holding earned about $499 million on match-3 and mobile advertising.

Now in order. Activision Blizzard has a number of divisions. The largest three: Activision, Blizzard and King. In a financial report that appeared recently on the web, the company told about the achievements of each of them.

Activision

The division earned $268 million. Of these, operating revenue is $55 million (21%). The total MAU was 37 million.

In general, the indicators are lower than a year earlier, but they are blamed on the absence of Destiny series projects in the line.

The company is very happy with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The game bypasses Call of Duty: WWII metrics in many respects for the same period a year earlier:

  • the number of hours played in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is 50% more;
  • MAU and earnings from microtransactions for the same period are also higher.

The division is also very pretty Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. It marks significant sales of the game, especially in numbers.

Despite the good performance of Black Ops 4 and Crash Team Racing, the operating profit of the division fell by 4 percentage points compared to last year’s results.

Blizzard

The division earned $384 million. Of these, operating revenue is $75 million (20%). The total MAU was 32 million.

The main successes among the product line are from Hearthstone. The project has increased MAU in quarterly terms, as well as revenue. All thanks to the release of the successful Rise of Shadows add-on.

The report also reports that the MAU of the Overwatch shooter has not changed in quarterly terms, but engagement has increased due to the addition of Workshop, a toolkit for creating mods for the game.

Due to problems with the implementation of microtransactions, both revenue and operating profit fell at the division.

King

The division earned $499 million. Of these, operating revenue is $171 million (20%). The total MAU was 258 million.

Among the successes , the holding highlights:

  • the growth of MAU to 258 million in the Candy Crush series is due to two titles — the classic Candy Crush Saga and the recently released Candy Crush Friends Saga;
  • a significant increase in the amount of time (in annual terms) spent by players in the Candy Crush series;
  • doubling in annual terms of revenue from the advertising network King.

Despite the growth in advertising revenue, both revenue and operating profit of the division remain at the same level.
