The International Football Federation (FIFA) has reported on finances for 2020. She earned $266.5 million. Most of the amount — $158.9 million — came as royalties for the use of the brand by third-party companies. Video games have become a key source of these revenues.

This is reported by the Kommersant newspaper. It also notes that the amount received was significantly higher than predicted. The federation believed that they would be able to earn only $112 million last year.

The growth happened because of the global lockdown. Against the background of self—isolation, people began to play more – including they began to play more in the FIFA series from Electronic Arts. The growth in sales of digital copies and in-game content has also had a positive impact on royalties.

The federation will be able to revise the contract with EA on more favorable terms next year. However, it is unclear whether this will happen before or after the World Cup, which is scheduled for November-December 2022.
