NPD: in July, the American gaming market earned $4.6 billion

The total turnover of the US gaming market in July amounted to $4.6 billion — an increase of 10% year-on-year.

• Of this amount, $4.1 billion was spent on content (games on consoles, PCs, mobile devices, as well as cloud and subscription services) — an increase of 6% year-on-year.
• Last month, Americans spent $323 million on iron — an increase of 98% in annual terms.
• The Nintendo Switch remained the leader in devices sold, but the PlayStation 5 took the lead in revenue in dollars.Accessory sales increased by 11% year-on-year to $180 million.

Important: NPD tracks sales of physical copies from retailers and receives data on the “figure” from publishers.

But not all companies provide information. For example, Nintendo does not disclose digital sales of exclusives, and Activision Blizzard does not share information from Battle.ne t.

The rating is also based on net sales of games (without microtransactions and subscriptions). An asterisk marks titles in which digital sales were not taken into account. And the familiar ones are titles that did not take into account sales in the “figure” on Xbox.
