MY.GAMES has compiled a portrait of a Russian gamer by the end of 2020. To do this, the company conducted a survey in which about two thousand players aged 15 to 44 years took part. According to the results of the survey, it turned out that the majority of gamers in Russia are men (59%).

Women make up 41% of the audience. 70% of respondents are over 24 years old, and the share of the audience aged 14 to 24 is 30%.

85% of respondents play on mobile devices at least once a month. 70% run games on PC, but the share of console players is only 29%.

Mobile games78% of respondents use Android devices.

  • The most popular mobile genres for men are MOBA, battle royales and action games.
  • Women prefer to play hidden object games, time managers and music games. At the same time, teenagers love competitive and gambling titles most of all, but users over 35 years old — match-3.The average receipt for the purchase of mobile games amounted to 949 rubles — an increase of 46% in annual terms.
  • At the same time, the average check for in—game purchases amounted to 836.9 rubles – an increase of 96%.Most of all, Russian users prefer to play at home (95%).

PC games

PC purchases are increasingly becoming digital — in 2020, only 15% of respondents bought physical copies (a decrease of 7 percentage points in annual terms).

  • The share of Steam decreased by 5%, but the use of Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store increased by 5-6%.
  • If we talk about genres, the popularity of survivalists, battle royales, MOBA, sports simulators and sandbox games has slightly increased over the year.
  • At the same time, the audience under the age of 24 prefers crafting games and survives, but users over the age of 35 prefer strategies and KKI.The average receipt for the purchase of PC games amounted to 1810.8 rubles – an increase of 64% in annual terms.
  • The average receipt for in—game purchases amounted to 1086.4 rubles – an increase of 73% in annual terms.Console games

During the year, the proportion of women and players over 35 years of age among console users has increased.

  • Battle royales and simulators of military equipment have become more popular on consoles — such games are preferred by a young audience.
  • At the same time, the audience over 35 years old plays shooters, RPGs, races and survives.Almost half of the respondents (46%) plan to buy a new generation console in the next six months.
  • At the same time, almost 80% of them prefer the PlayStation 5.Despite the fact that console players have become less likely to buy games, the average check still increased by 30% and amounted to 3001.8 rubles.
