Based on data from AppMagic, the App2Top editorial team prepared a report on the state of downloads and revenue in the global mobile market.

Top Downloaded Games in October

There are no significant changes, aside from the appearance of several new products that are likely to fall out of the top in a month or two. The majority of the games presented in the top ten have been established there for a long time. Observations related to the "old-timers":

  • My Supermarket Simulator 3D not only continues to stay in the top but also shows an increasing number of downloads month by month (in August, the game had just over 10 million installs, in September — 17 million, and by the end of October, it reached 20 million);
  • Hole.io, which peaked in popularity in 2018, is once again climbing the chart — in October, the game about a hole swallowing city blocks was downloaded over 11 million times (it is noteworthy that Voodoo has actively supported this hyper-casual title all these years, releasing several updates per month).

As for the newcomers, there are four. Let's take a closer look at them.

Mini Games: Calm & Relax

Publisher: Vietnamese Rocket Succeed Together

About: the spiritual successor to Offline Games, which was in the top charts in July. Mini Games: Calm & Relax is an app-library of hyper-casual games. Players select a game from the list they like and spend time in it. Monetization is based on ads.

Observation: the game was released back in August, but only started gaining downloads in October. Judging by the distinctly zigzagged download chart, the game is sustained purely via paid traffic, without which it immediately loses reach. At its peak, it was downloaded two million times a day. By early November, daily downloads dropped to 800,000.

Metrics:

  • total downloads in October — 36.5 million;
  • downloads from Google Play in October — 36.5 million.

Tik Tap Challenge

Publisher: Pakistani XGame Global

About: each level of the game is a test of logic, attention, or reaction. The mechanics are varied, from simple matches to archery. For each level completed, players earn rubies, which can be used to skip difficult levels. Watching ads increases the number of rubies a player receives for winning.

Observation: the game was released on October 22, yet it made it into the top ten by downloads. The project quickly reached 1.5 million downloads per day, peaking at 2.1 million daily installs. After the initial marketing push ended by October 28, daily downloads dropped to one million.

Metrics:

  • total downloads in October — 13.5 million;
  • downloads from Google Play in October — 13.5 million.

Perfect Tidy

Publisher: Vietnamese ABI Game Studio

About: another set of puzzles, but this time all united under the theme of tidying. In each level, the player is tasked with cleaning, tidying, or organizing the location within the set time.

Observation: the game was launched on both iOS and Android back in September. On both platforms, it quickly reached 150,000 installs per day. Then, as seen on the chart, it started purchasing more traffic on iOS. To their credit, the team maintained around 200,000 daily installs on each platform as a norm for the project.

Metrics:

  • total downloads in October — 11 million;
  • downloads from the App Store in October — 5.8 million.
  • downloads from Google Play in October — 5.2 million.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops (三角洲行动)

Publisher: Tencent

About: a mobile version of the multiplatform multiplayer shooter Delta Force: Hawk Ops. Players select an operator with suitable traits, a mode (including evacuation), and head to the map.

Observation: the game is only released in China for now, with a global release planned for the fourth quarter of this year. The game is developed by TiMi Studios. It is worth remembering they were responsible for the creation and launch of Call of Duty Mobile, where players spent over 3 billion dollars. Most likely, Hawk Ops will also perform well. With 3.8 million installs generated in October, the game earned over 5 million dollars.

Metrics:

  • total downloads in October — 3.8 million;
  • downloads from the App Store in October — 3.8 million.

Top Grossing Games in October

There are no new releases in the top-grossing charts. The leaders remained the same projects as in September-August. There were not even any significant rearrangements. The only noteworthy event is the disappearance of Honkai: Star Rail from the top.
