App Annie: Game index for April 2015

Mobile analytics company App Annie summed up the results of the previous month. In the review for April 2015: the leaders of the world gaming charts of the App Store and Google Play, trends in the mobile industry and much more.

Leading companies

The first five places in the top downloads are for the same names as last month. These are Gameloft, King, EA, Ketchapp studio and Chinese Doodle Mobile.

Then the permutations and new names begin.

In sixth place is the newcomer to the chart, General Adaptive Apps with an application under the uncomplicated name aa. The company got into the chart after their minimalistic game gained a noticeable number of downloads last month.

The seventh place went to Taiwan’s XPEC. It has risen by two points in a month. XPEC does not have any one application responsible for success, the company takes the number. She and her affiliated publishers have released more than 500 games and applications in total.

The eighth place is for Tencent. The Chinese company-owner of the popular messengers QQ and WeChat again got into the top ten, rising by 6 points.

The Finns from Rovio continue to fall, they have lost three more points and are now in ninth place.

Glu holds the tenth position (and, we think, is waiting for the planned releases, because, anyway, the audience of her Kim Kardashian: Hollywood continues to slowly disperse).

In the top in terms of revenue, everything could be predictable: the first three places are for the unchanged Supercell, King and GungHo Online. In the remaining positions, the movement is within one or two points, no more. But – the picture is diluted by the Chinese company NetEase, which has rapidly risen to the top. Game hits

With downloads, everything is the same: the world’s top 10 share almost the same games as last month. Someone moved up a couple of points, like Subway Surfers (1st place), someone fell like Crossy Road (8th place).

Only aa, which we have already mentioned, rose noticeably within the top ten. This minimalistic application from an Australian studio became a sensation last month, in this it is steadily creeping up.

In tenth place is the runner Despicable Me from Gameloft. The game is a newcomer to the chart, but it is far from new. It was released in June 2013.

Candy Crush Saga remained in the same place.

With box office hits, everything is more interesting. Yes, the top five is the same. But there are new titles. There are two of them this month and they are both from Asia.

The first is the South Korean role-playing action Raven (last month it was in the top ten in the App Store world ranking).

The second one we mentioned above is the Chinese MMORPG Fantasy Westward Journey. She immediately got to the 6th place of the world box office top. This is a title based on the eponymous game of the same genre for PC. It was released at the end of April in China and unconditionally holds the championship in all categories in the local App Store.
