App Annie company summed up the May results of the mobile games market. She talked about who was leading in the App Store and Google Play game charts.
Leading companies
The first place in May in terms of downloads is for Electronic Arts. The Finns from Rovio rose by 3 points and took 6th place, remaining in the top ten. Ketchapp Studio has lost 4 positions and is in 8th place.
There are only two new names: TabTale, which specializes in children’s apps, and Supercell. In September, TabTale has already been in the world top for downloads. Interestingly, this time the place in the chart was provided to her not by one specific title, but by the total number of downloads of her games.
Supercell is also not a newcomer to the top, although it usually leads in revenue. In May, she is ranked 9th in the world Top 10 by downloads.
There were no changes at all in the box office top ten leaders: the first two places were taken by recognized champions – Supercell and King. Next comes Mixi, to which GungHo Online has lost one position. The companies are in a state of constant struggle for leadership in the Japanese market, which obviously affects their position in the world grossing charts.
Hits of May
In the leaderboard lists for May, the most interesting names are Criminal Case and Marvel Future Fight.
Criminal Case is a port of the popular hidden object detective title on Facebook. It was created by the French team Pretty Simple Games. It is noteworthy that it was released a year ago, in July 2014, and App Annie got into the tops only now, although both the box office and downloads in key markets are kept at a stable level.
We have told you about Marvel Future Fight more than once. The game was released in early March – more than a month before the premiere of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (Avengers: Age of Ultron), a film based on the Marvel universe. App Annie analysts believe that the popularity of the game is due to the hyped IP. Their opinion is confirmed by the indicators of the game. Marvel Future Fight had more than a good start, but now its downloads have started to creep down.
In the box office top, everything is the same and the same. The first three places are shared by three leaders, who already, it seems, do not even need to be named. These are Clash of Clans (1st place), Monster Strike (2nd place) and Puzzle & Dragons (3rd place). For the rest – movements within one or two positions. Plus, The White Cat Project returned to the top (8th place). She was in the top ten for downloads last November.
