Half of the gambling expenditures by Dutch users goes to the illegal market

The chairman of the Dutch gambling regulator, Michel Groothuizen, stated that 50 euro cents of every euro that residents of the country spend on gambling goes to operators without licenses. According to his estimate, this results in the state losing over 500 million euros in taxes annually.

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (KSA) has imposed a fine on the operator Chestoption for the illegal promotion of online gambling to the country’s residents. As noted by the regulator, the company did not possess a Dutch license, yet it actively advertised its projects to the local audience.
