The trial of Epic Games and Apple will take place in May 2021

At the end of September, one of the hearings in the Epic and Apple case took place, where it was decided whether Fortnite could be returned to the App Store for the duration of the general trial. Then Judge Yvonne Gonzales Rogers ruled: the battle royale cannot yet be placed back in the marketplace, and the dispute between the companies should be resolved by jury. Gonzalez Rogers also noted that in this case, the meeting will be held no earlier than July 2021.

However, a couple of days later, Epic and Apple were asked to speed up the paperwork process and refused a jury trial. Gonzalez Rogers took this into account and set a new hearing date — May 3, 2021. As the judge explains, it will not be possible to hold the meeting earlier because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which slowed down the consideration of cases and created a queue of appeals to the court.
