In the conditions of coronavirus, gadget manufacturers are no longer up to pre-installations of Russian software. Therefore, the Duma shifts the deadline by six months — to January 1, 2021.
At the beginning of the year, there were opinions that market participants would not have time to pre-install Russian software before July 1 according to the new law. Smartphone developers alone must conclude 13 contracts with Russian software manufacturers.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the process is being delayed even more. The Association of Trading Companies and Manufacturers of Electrical and Computer Equipment (RATEK) considered the requirement “impossible” at all, writes RBC.
Therefore, today, according to TASS, an amendment was made to the bill on the powers of the authorities in emergency situations. It will allow you to move the deadline for presets to January 1. The bill was approved in the second reading, the date of the third has not yet been set.
Recall that the law on presets was adopted on November 21, 2019 and published on December 2. The document was supposed to come into force on July 1. At first, it was assumed that the presets would be introduced in stages (first on smartphones, then on tablets, then on PCs, smart TVs and set-top boxes). But later, the FAS set a deadline of July 1 for manufacturers of all kinds of gadgets.
