The day before the opening of WWDC 2014, Samsung decided to show the first smartphone on Tizen for sale.
The announcement turned out to be very strange and crumpled. On Sunday evening, Samsung officially announced that it was going to launch a Samsung Z smartphone running on Tizen OS in Russia.
This happened on the eve of the expected WWDC 2014, at which, according to rumors, they are going to present a new version of iOS, and before the opening of the Tizen Developer Conference, at which the official presentation of Samsung Z. will take place.
However, considering that the Tizen conference, as well as WWDC 2014, begins on June 2, it is quite possible that Samsung hoped to at least partially attract attention to the event held under its patronage.
But, as it seems to us, even Samsung itself does not believe in the prospects of the OS. The launch of the first commercial smartphone based on it in Russia, where there were high sales of Bada, is rather a desire to make a “soft launch” in relatively favorable conditions, to test the system. If Samsung had no doubts about the success, the launch of the gadget would have been made in a much more priority market for the company.
As for the gadget itself, it has a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a quad-core 2.3 GHz processor, an 8 MP main camera and a 2.1MP front camera, 16 GB of internal and 2 GB of RAM.
