The console from Nintendo under the working name NX will probably function on the basis of the Android OS. This is with reference to a source close to the company’s management, the Japanese newspaper Nikkei writes.
According to the resource, the company will take this step in order to simplify the process of creating games for the new console for third-party developers.
Earlier this year, Nintendo announced that its New Nintendo 3DS handheld game console will receive Unity support. This was done in order to attract the attention of developers who create games on this popular engine.
Note that it is still unknown exactly what the Nintendo NX will be. The head of the company Satoru Iwata describes it as “a special gaming platform based on a completely new concept.”
