Last summer, Zynga announced its first NFT game — Sugartown. A year later, the company got rid of it and sold "all products with assets" to the startup D20 Labs.

The amount and terms of the deal are unknown.

The new owners of Sugartown stated that the deal had been in the works for the past few months. They plan to continue developing the game and strive to make it as high-quality as possible.

D20 Labs is entirely composed of members from Zynga's Web3 gaming team. Notably, the startup was founded by the leaders of the company's Web3 division — Vice President Matthew Wolf and General Manager Tommy Ngo.

It is unclear whether the sale of Sugartown signifies Zynga's abandonment of further experiments in Web3 gaming or if the company was specifically dissatisfied with this game. Zynga itself did not comment on why it decided to hand over the title to D20 Labs.
