The VK Group of Companies has announced the launch of a new gaming project. A section has appeared on the "Zen" content platform where users can play browser games.
Currently, the "Zen Games" catalog includes over 600 titles. For instance, among these are "Tetris," "Grand Hotel Mania," Om Nom: Run, Burger, Please! and other projects. VK promises to regularly increase the number of games in this section.
At launch, the gaming section is exclusively available in the PC version of "Zen." Moreover, users must log in using VK ID to access it, even though "Zen" also supports authentication via "Yandex ID". The VK press release does not explain the exclusion of "Yandex ID," but if you enter the "Zen Games" catalog, there is a note indicating that the section is a showcase of games from the VK-owned social network "VKontakte." This might explain the choice of authentication method.
In the future, VK promises to remove the login requirement and add games to the mobile version of "Zen."
VK became the owner of "Zen" in September 2022. Before this, the platform belonged to "Yandex," which has its own platform with browser games — "Yandex Games." Recently, Yandex Games' Head of Business Development, Nikita Bokarev, told App2Top that the active monthly audience of the gaming platform has reached 45 million players.
