Russian officials are increasingly talking about the need to support the Russian gaming industry. Now the working group “Development of computer sports in the Russian Federation” under the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports has spoken about this.

It is reported that during the last meeting she considered “issues of import substitution in esports and the gaming industry.” During the discussion, the group came to the following conclusions:

▫️support should be provided to domestic game manufacturers, including through grants;
It is necessary to think about creating an alternative international esports ecosystem.

It was also announced that together with the relevant departments, the group will work on the introduction of esports lessons in schools, and will also make a proposal to reduce the age for esports athletes to 12 years for training and to 14 years for participation in championships.
