Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that in 2023 it will change the terms of the OGL — an open license for creators of Dungeons & Dragons content.

Under the new rules, creators of D&D content with an annual income of over $50,000 will have to report on finances to Wizards of the Coast. And those content creators whose income exceeds $750,000 a year will also be required to pay royalties.

The company indicated that most users will not notice the changes to the terms. She also stressed that the OGL license only applies to board games. D&D video games require a different license.

Earlier, Wizards of the Coast management reported that the D&D brand is “insufficiently monetized.”
