Roblox games are stepping beyond the platform, the creators of Genshin Impact secured $112K in a lawsuit against an AI service, and the studio behind Moss announced its closure. Here’s a rundown of the main events in the gaming industry from this past weekend.

  • At the end of last week, Roblox held the RDC 2026 conference, where it made several announcements. Notably, it announced that soon game creators on its platform would be able to release their projects as standalone games on PC, consoles, and mobile devices, with the necessary technological support provided by Roblox itself. This opportunity will be part of the Roblox Everywhere initiative. Further details have not been disclosed, so exactly how the company plans to implement these plans remains unknown.
  • miHoYo won a lawsuit against an unnamed Chinese AI service that sold generated voice packs imitating the voiceovers of characters from Genshin Impact. The company claimed in its lawsuit that the service violated not only its copyrights but also the law on unfair competition. As miHoYo noted, the service’s creators used images of the game's characters for advertising their services without permission, and the AI-generated voices were very hard to distinguish from real ones. Ultimately, the court agreed with miHoYo’s arguments and directed the offenders to pay a compensation of 750,000 yuan ($111,800). Notably, the company initially aimed for a higher sum, seeking up to 5 million yuan ($745,300), but the court deemed this excessive.
  • The studio Polyarc, known for the Moss series about a mouse's adventures, has decided to shut its doors. It announced that it would cease to exist after nearly 12 years of operation. Polyarc did not cite a reason for the closure, but earlier in the year the studio laid off a "significant" portion of its staff due to challenges in securing funding for a new game.
  • Developers from IllFonic reported on the initial success of Halloween: The Game. They boasted that four days after its release, the horror game based on the iconic Halloween film franchise had sold over a million copies. The title was released on September 8, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
