  • The amount of funds raised for the development of Star Citizen through crowdfunding has reached $801.6 million. Cloud Imperium Games received this money from 5.58 million people. Recall that Star Citizen crossed the $700 million mark at the end of May 2024. It took less than 11 months for the game to attract an additional $100 million.
  • tinyBuild announced the sale of Red Cerberus — a Brazilian outsourcing studio specializing in testing, localization, and porting games. It was purchased by TestFly for $1.5 million. In its press release, tinyBuild noted that as of December 31, 2024, the book value of Red Cerberus was almost half of that amount, standing at $0.8 million. They also mentioned that the studio posted a net loss of $0.1 million last year with a revenue of $4.3 million. Nevertheless, TestFly expects Red Cerberus to be a profitable acquisition.
  • On Friday evening, April 4th, Grinding Gear Games released a major update for Path of Exile 2 called "Hunting Season." After this, the game's online presence on Steam significantly increased. According to SteamDB, on Sunday, the number of concurrent users in the Steam version of the title reached 246,345 people. For comparison, the day before the patch release, Path of Exile 2's daily online count on Steam was 11.5 times lower — 31,358 people. However, the current results are still far from the game's peak online after its early access launch, which was 578,569 people. Moreover, despite the hype, the audience was not impressed with the patch, causing Path of Exile 2's Steam rating based on reviews from the last 30 days to fall to a "mixed" 47%. Grinding Gear Games has already promised to make changes to the game and review a number of contentious issues.
