The studio Pocketpair, known for developing Palworld, announced that it will contest the patent lawsuit filed against it by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. The studio aims to prove its innocence and in doing so, protect other indie developers from attempts to stifle their creative ideas.

According to Pocketpair, it is unaware of which patent infringements it is accused of. Neither Nintendo nor The Pokémon Company previously notified the studio.

Pocketpair will continue to work on Palworld, albeit with less intensity. The studio warned that due to legal proceedings, it will have to devote significant time to non-development issues. It apologized to the game’s fans and reminded them that it remains a small company.
