According to Willits, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 outpaced all the games they worked on in sales speed, including "all parts of Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, and RAGE."
It’s worth noting that Hollenshead left id Software in 2013, and Willits departed in 2019. After the latter's departure, the studio released Doom Eternal (in 2020). Whether the developers considered the metrics of this project remains uncertain.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was released on September 9 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The day after its release, the game's audience exceeded 2 million people.
