On September 5th, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment granted access to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 for owners of the deluxe editions. The game immediately became one of the most popular new releases of 2024 on Steam.

According to data from SteamDB, the Steam version of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 peaked with 134,302 concurrent players. This achievement placed it at 11th* in the online ranking among games released in 2024 on Valve's platform, positioned between Enshrouded (160,405 players) and Granblue Fantasy: Relink (114,054 players).

Additionally, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 became the second most popular game in the Warhammer universe on Steam. The only game to surpass it in concurrent users was Total War: WARHAMMER III, with 166,754 players.

Overall, players had a favorable impression of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. At the time of writing, it had a "mostly positive" rating on Steam, with 75% of reviews praising the game. In negative reviews, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was mostly criticized for the lack of widescreen monitor support, technical issues (crashes, black screen on launch, and more), and the mandatory Epic Online Services integration.

The gaming press also generally responded positively to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. On Metacritic, they rated it between 82 and 83 out of 100, depending on the platform. The game was commended as a solid continuation of the first installment, with praise for its graphics and spectacular battles.
