Royal Match is one of the highest-grossing mobile puzzle games in the world. The analytics service AppMagic has calculated that since its release in February 2021, gamers have spent a total of $5 billion on it.
Royal Match
The last time AppMagic analysts shared user spending data on Royal Match was in May 2024: at that time, the amount was just under $3 billion. Thus, it took the game only eight months to receive an additional approximately $2 billion from gamers.
Important: The $5 billion is direct user spending. This amount does not yet account for mobile store commissions and taxes paid by the developer studio Dream Games. The net IAP revenue of Royal Match is much lower, amounting to $3.1 billion.
AppMagic also compiled a list of top match-3 games with complex meta by the size of net IAP revenue on Google Play and the App Store.
1. Gardenscapes — $4 billion (672 million downloads);
2. Homescapes — $3.4 billion (619 million downloads);
3. Royal Match — $3.1 billion (325 million downloads);
4. Project Makeover — $755 million (275 million downloads);
5. Matchington Mansion — $716 million (203 million downloads);
6. Clockmaker: Jewel Match 3 Game — $324 million (39 million downloads).
At the end of November 2024, Dream Games released the sequel to Royal Match — Royal Kingdom. The new release demonstrated higher initial results than its predecessor and to date has earned $29.2 million in net IAP revenue.
