After the rumors about the dismissal of the Gigaya team and the change in Unity strategy, some developers decided to ask the company how things were going with the project. The answer was disappointing. The company confirmed that it was stopping work on the platformer, which was supposed to clearly show how the engine works.
According to a Unity representative, the company currently has “no active plans for a public release of the game.” But Gigaya’s developments will continue to exist as an internal tool.
Although Gigaya could turn out to be a useful resource for developers, Unity does not consider it justified to spend money on its optimization and polishing, which can be redirected to other projects.
